-Working Out at Work-

Ice-Breakers:

If you could only work at one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Questions:

Read Philippians 2:19-24

  • Paul showed an incredible interest in Timothy. He lead him to Christ and trained him to work alongside him for the Gospel. How important is it to have spiritual mentors? Whether through books, videos, or in person, who has trained you in the faith?
  • Mark 16:15 says, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Timothy went and did just that. He shared the gospel, trained others and helped write books of the Bible. How have you taken whatever training you’ve been given and passed it on? Who have you mentored? If no one, why not?

Read Philippians 2:25-30

  • Just like Jesus, Paul picked a few people to have a close relationship with. In this passage we see Paul refer to Epaphroditus as a brother, co-worker, and fellow soldier. Talk about what those three characteristics mean and how they would contribute to joy in your place of work. Is there someone you work with that exemplifies these characteristics to you? Do you embody these for someone else?
  • Epaphroditus risks his life to work with Paul and help spread the gospel. What kinds of risks does Jesus want us to take? How would taking those risks bring spiritual growth to work?

Application:

Jason asked everyone to write down two names:

I think God has sent me to my job (or neighborhood, or volunteer position, etc...) to minister to __________________.

&

One person who you think needs to know Jesus personally.

Post those names somewhere so you can remember to pray for them. How can we pray for you as a group?
